Mechanical torque limiters are used in almost all areas of technology and are used to protect products and high-quality machine parts in automatic systems from further damage.

The limiters react sensitively even at the smallest increase in torque and safely disconnect the motor drive from the subsequent masses of the machine in a fraction of a second, which is why they are also known under the term "safety coupling". The separation is forced and purely mechanical, ie a possible power failure has no effect on their function. The reason for the increase in torque can be material jams, for example, which lead to overloads in the drive train. That is why one speaks in this context of overload protection, hence the common name "overload clutch".

Safe switching behavior, few individual parts

The ECE series from Enemac should be particularly characterized by its axially short design, which opens up many advantages for narrow installation spaces. A proven, robust and simple construction should result in a safe switching behavior and still get along with extremely few individual parts without competition.

According to the manufacturer, precise torque limitation is guaranteed by the disc springs used, which also enable large adjustment ranges without changing the disc springs. The ball detent principle interrupts the drive train between the motor and the machine within a few degrees. The couplings are equipped with a so-called synchronous detent as standard, ie hub (drive) and flange ring (driven) have only one detent point per 360 ° (synchronous). Several rest points are possible on request. The stroke of the balls is queried with a proximity switch and the resulting signal is sent to the control to switch off the drive. The torque is transmitted from the motor shaft with a feather key connection to the hub of the clutch. The respective output parts (sprockets, tooth lock washers, flanges or similar) are mounted on the drive shaft and screwed to the flange ring for torque transmission.

With a total of 28 sizes, a total setting range of 2 Nm to 900 Nm is achieved. The ECE type is also optionally available in stainless steel. (sh)
