Anyone can paint. But when it comes to insulation, you have to look at the details. That says Timo Ritter and then he immediately unpacks his sample case and explains to the customer what really matters when insulating. The case contains various patterns for detailed solutions on the facade. A window connection is shown just like the new system-compliant window sills that Ritter will install for the customer. And of course the system structure and many other things are explained. Ritter created the patterns himself.

“At some point I got a window corner from our window manufacturer and a piece of window sill from our system supplier. And soon the first sample was ready,”recalls the young, dynamic master painter and explains:“Using the samples, I can show the customer how we work at Ritter and where the differences are.”These differences are particularly important for Ritter, Because “there are 7 painting companies in the town alone and because of the relative proximity to the Rhine-Main area, there are also many outside companies on the market. You have to stand out.”

All-round package

Taking off also means for Timo Ritter that he does not leave the customer alone when renovating. “Customers always want to renew the windows or gutters when it comes to the facade. And sometimes carpentry is required,”he says. Then Ritter also takes care of these services: “Over the years we have built up a small network of craftsmen. If the customer so wishes, I would also be happy to take care of the non-trade services. Then our artisan colleagues come into play. Everyone works on their own account, but I coordinate the construction site. The customer doesn't have to worry about anything.”This all-round package is well received by customers. It is therefore not surprising that the Ritter company receives a large proportion of its orders from regular customers. "There are customerswhere my father plastered the facade 30 years ago, and today we're bringing the house up to the latest energy standards.”

80 years of competence

Timo Ritter represents the fourth generation of master painters at the Ritter painting company in Alzenau, Lower Franconia. The company was founded in 1932 by Valentin Ritter, Timo's great-grandfather, and will celebrate its 80th anniversary the following year. 2 masters and 5 employees are currently employed. The Knights make 65 percent of their sales outside and a large part of this with energetic renovation. It goes without saying that the company has two energy consultants working in the painting and varnishing trade.

State-of-the-art technology

Ritter relies on modern technology - in the office as well as on the construction site. “When I have finished the consultation, I go back to the car and get my yardstick and the digital camera. At the latest when I set the bar on the facade and start taking pictures of the house, the customers ask what I'm doing. I then tell you that I create an exact digital measurement for the offer from the photos. The customers are always very surprised and enthusiastic about the modern technology that I use. This sets our company apart from the competition one more time,”explains Ritter, and goes on to say that IT has always played an important role in Ritter's painting business. His father Manfred Ritter was one of the first in the area to invest in a computer and programs. After several stops, the decision was made in 2005 to use the IT software from the Hessian software company CATS-Soft. "Our IT was getting a bit old. We looked at different systems and then got stuck at CATS. We acquired the business painter software CATS-WARICUM and BILDaufmaß, "recalls Ritter, and explains:" The ability to create a complex measurement from a simple photo and to get a complete offer or invoice with just a few clicks was and was is impressive."We acquired the business painter software CATS-WARICUM and BILDaufmaß, "recalls Ritter, and explains:" The ability to create a complex measurement from a simple photo and to get a complete offer or invoice with just a few clicks was and was is impressive."We acquired the business painter software CATS-WARICUM and BILDaufmaß, "recalls Ritter, and explains:" The ability to create a complex measurement from a simple photo and to get a complete offer or invoice with just a few clicks was and was is impressive."

Perfect IT

Timo Ritter uses IT very consistently. When he calls a customer who wants to have a facade renovated, he asks in the first call whether there are any existing plans: "If the customer gives me plans, I scan them, otherwise the facade is photographed." For the photos Ritter uses a "simple compact camera". And if he goes to a customer unexpectedly and does not have the camera with him, he has already taken some pictures with his cell phone. “That's enough.” He reads the images or scanned plans into the software and creates a detailed measurement. He combines the measurement with the prepared performance descriptions and so very quickly has a meaningful detailed offer. He gives the offer to the customer without measurement, because “our competitors should take their masses themselves. We don't do the work for them.”When it comes to the order and he bills the work, there is of course a detailed measurement for each invoice, because“the customers should know exactly what we have done for them”.

Save enormous time

If you ask Timo Ritter whether he can imagine a job without his modern software programs, you immediately hear a clear “No” and then he explains: “We no longer have an offer without IMAGE measurements. I am very happy that this technique exists. I can no longer imagine working without BILD oversize. I don't have the time.”Ritter, who works productively in the company, says that by measuring the image, he saves at least half the time compared to the conventional way of working. And he sees a great advantage in being able to measure additional components from the pictures at any time: "If the customer did not want the windows to be painted at first and then later thought about having it done, then I would have to take another hand measurement, with BILDaufmaß I do it quickly in the office. And much more precisely."
