The joint project Adaptive City Mobility ACM presents the City E-Taxi at Cebit 2017. The vehicle should go against the trend to build bigger and faster vehicles like SUVs. The simple electric vehicle should prove its worth especially in urban areas, for example as an inner-city e-taxi or for other applications such as e-sharing, e-logistics or e-tourism.

Fast "refueling" by changing the battery

The maximum speed of the city car is 90 km / h according to the manufacturer's website, the battery has a drive power of only 14 kW and a maximum range of 120 km. The battery system consists of individual modules that are combined to form an overall battery system. If the batteries are empty, they can be charged conventionally within six hours. Instead, the modules can also be manually removed from the underbody of the car and replaced. Battery changing stations, at which the empty batteries can be exchanged for full ones, should become the basis for the quick “refueling” of the electric vehicle.

The car is particularly light so that it can drive more energy-efficiently. The basis for this is a hybrid chassis made of aluminum and fiber composite materials. The large, translucent doors should provide a new feeling of space in the small vehicle due to the good view. The plexiglass doors also save weight.

Offer e-mobility cheaper

ACM is a joint project of the ICT funding program for electromobility III and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The project aims to make electric mobility competitive, resource-saving and environmentally friendly and was selected as the federal government's flagship project in summer 2015. From 2017, ACM will go into the practical test with its three developments, vehicle, battery change and ICT networking. The site of the field test is Munich.

The underlying business model is based on various sources of income such as travel brokerage, energy sales, digital advertising control and battery leasing. According to the manufacturer, the total cost of ownership can be greatly reduced, so that electromobility would no longer have to be expensive and exclusive. The vehicles could be used to their maximum, since uneconomical loading times are eliminated.

As a self-sufficient overall e-mobility system, ACM offers municipalities, companies and citizens the opportunity to be on the move independently of charging station infrastructures and public subsidies. (kj)
