Video: Altair Is Expanding Its Software Portfolio With Solid Iris

Altair has acquired Solid Iris Technologies. Solid Iris, a technology company based in Greece, specializes in photo-realistic rendering and visualization with the “Thea Render” solution. The two companies have had a business relationship for years in which Altair uses Thea Render technology to provide rendering functions in the Solid Thinking Evolve concept design software.
James Scapa, Altair's founder, chairman and CEO, explains: “With the growing performance and cloud availability of high performance computing, there is a huge market for rendering solutions for various applications, from architectural visualizations to product design to entertainment and augmented reality. We are happy to provide our users with powerful functions.”
Let products appear in a seemingly real scene
Thea Rendering is a modern "biased", "unbiased" and GPU renderer with many functions, a powerful material system and its own studio. The integration of this photo-realistic rendering technology in the Solid Thinking and Altair products should contribute to a new experience in visualization, modeling and design. Thea Render is also integrated into modeling applications.
“Seeing is the most important human sensation,” says Ioannis Pantazopoulos, Managing Director of Solid Iris, “and plays a crucial role in understanding our world. With the integration of our team and technology into Altair, we will work to improve the user experience of our solution so that the product is created in a seemingly real scene on the computer rather than in front of the screen.”(Kj)
