Video: Automate Inexpensively With 5-axis Articulated Arms

Robots are taking on more and more tasks in automation. Last year, sales of industrial robots exceeded the 245,000 mark, a new record. At the same time, there is growing interest in simple and inexpensive robotics solutions. In the area of this low-cost automation, Igus wants to offer users with its Robolink D the possibility of simply increasing their productivity using a flexible robot construction kit. At Motek 2016, Igus presented a new 5-axis robot kit, which is also available as a pre-assembled arm.
Configured yourself or pre-assembled
Thanks to the modular combination of Robolink articulated arm, motor and gearbox, the customer receives a system that can be flexibly put together and used for many robotics tasks. In addition, it is possible to combine motors and joints in several sizes with common controls for a complete robot made of plastic and aluminum. Igus E chains and Chainflex cables with a 36-month guarantee are used as predefined 5-axis kinematics with Robolink D joints, Igus stepper motor kits and sheet metal bent parts as connection technology. The motors can be regulated using standard control modules and the center distances can be modified by changing the connecting parts. The Robolink DC is available as a 5-axle model in two versions: as a small version with a load capacity of up to 0.5 kg and a larger version with up to 2.5 kg.
Digital Economy Award 2016
Igus recognized as "Company 4.0"
The system can also be ordered as a subassembly, for example as a swivel, swivel unit or 2-axis swivel arm. The finishing arm should be light and extremely flexible to use, making it just as interesting for robot manufacturers as well as machine and device manufacturers as it is for system integrators and automation engineers from all industries, from automobile production to medical technology. With the Robolink configurator, Robolink-D joints should be particularly easy to assemble and the robot arm should be easy to configure. According to the manufacturer, the price of the 5-axis articulated arm is 3349 euros for the small version or 3998 euros for the larger version from quantity 1 without control and is cheaper for larger quantities. Articulated Couplings Compensate For High Radial And Angular Misalignments

High misalignment on the drive or drive train of machines can put heavy loads on the shaft bearings. Special articulated couplings can compensate for both radial and angular misalignments and thus extend the service life of the machines
