Schaeffler Honors Its Best Suppliers

Outstanding quality, reliability, competitive cost structures, service, innovations and a global presence: these were the criteria to be met by the suppliers. Schaeffler has now awarded the ten best with the supplier award for their achievements in 2015. Around 5,000 supply companies supply the company with production materials at 74 production sites worldwide. 100 top suppliers with a total of 250 participants from 20 countries accepted the invitation to Herzogenaurach. In a previous selection process, Schaeffler identified the ten best suppliers in 2015 from this group. Oliver Jung, Board Member for Production, Logistics and Purchasing and Chief Operating Officer, and Michael Hartig, Head of Purchasing, thanked for the exemplary performance and presented the awards. They went to:

• Harsha Engineers Limited, India

• KLS Ljubno doo, Slovenia

• LG Innotek Co., Ltd., Korea

• Ortrander Eisenhütte GmbH, Germany

• Posco, Korea

• Uchiyama Manufacturing Corp., Japan

• Tan Kong Precision Tech Co., Ltd., Taiwan

• Voestalpine Deutschland GmbH, Germany

• Alfons Schmeier GmbH & Co. KG grinding wheel factory, Germany

In his speech, Oliver Jung emphasized: “Our goal is to work with the best suppliers. These are an important part of our production system. We are successful together thanks to your delivery reliability, compliance with quality standards, your competitive cost structure and the optimization of the supply chain. This also requires a high level of technology understanding, specialization and qualification in all areas from the suppliers."

The purchasing volume of Schaeffler in 2016 is 7.8 billion euros, according to its own information. The “Schaeffler Supplier Awards” for production material are awarded every two years - alternating with the presentation of the “Premium Supplier Awards” as part of the purchasing cooperation with Continental AG.
