Video: More Light, More Flexibility, Less Fuel

The winning team of the German Future Prize, the Federal President's Prize for Technology and Innovation, is waving 250,000 euros. It is intended to honor projects that, based on research, lead to products that are ready for application and thus marketable. The award is the most important scientific award in Germany. It is intended to raise public awareness of the scientific and technical development potential available in Germany and to emphasize the importance of close cooperation between science, business and politics for Germany's future viability. This year, research and development projects from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony are nominated. Joachim Gauck will select the winner on November 30, 2016 at Bellevue Palace.
The nominees
The following teams are nominated for the German Future Prize:
Team 1: "The fascinating material carbon-concrete - economical, gentle, beautiful"
Researchers at the TU Dresden developed an innovative concrete composite that will increasingly replace the proven reinforced concrete in the future. Read more on the next page.
Team 2: "The vision of a smooth drive - coating cuts energy losses in half"
Researchers and developers from Daimler and the Heller Maschinenfabrik brothers have developed a new method for coating the piston and cylinder raceway system in the internal combustion engine. The energy saving potential is enormous. For more information, please click on “Team 2” below.
Team 3: "Laser light in the car - with certainty and a vision of the future"
