The system builder needs an engineering tool that offers the possibility of integrating the supplied digital twins of all components into the overall system. At Siemens, we firmly believe that modern engineering tools are capable of processing such digital twins.

The behavior models mentioned above represent black boxes for the plant manufacturer, which give them all relevant information about the condition of the components. The engineering tool can, however, generate a digital twin for an entire system, which makes it possible to intelligently evaluate each individual component in the context of the overall system.

An example of a realization from the operating phase are pumps, in which we not only map the behavior, but also record and measure operating states. In this way, impermissible operating conditions can be avoided, such as wear on pump blades due to increased cavitation.

Should an impermissible state occur, the digital twin of the pump can clarify the question of overload and what effects this has on the life cycle.

This is a typical example of how design information from a pump manufacturer can offer benefits for the entire system in the operating phase.
