Video: New Magnetostrictive Sensor With Rotatable Electrical Connection

If a sensor with a threaded flange is screwed into a cylinder, the orientation of the side connector or the cable outlet cannot be determined in advance. With the GB with threaded flange, on the other hand, the electronics housing with side electrical connection can be freely rotated in a complete radius of 360 °. This allows the electrical connection to be aligned as desired after installation.
Flexible modular design
In addition, the modular design enables the sensor element and supporting electronics to be replaced while the flange remains permanently installed in the cylinder. This has the advantage that the hydraulic system does not have to be opened and downtimes are avoided.
The alignment of the electrical connection is unproblematic: after loosening the three screws with which the sensor housing is attached to the threaded flange, the sensor head with the electrical connection can be turned into the desired orientation. Then the three screws are tightened again. The sensor electronics are replaced in the same way.
Insensitive to interference
The GB sensor with threaded flange is available with either an analog or synchronous serial interface (SSI). The operating temperature can be up to 100 ° C, so that no additional bulky cooling mechanisms need to be installed. Thanks to the magnetostrictive Temposonics measurement technology, the GB series sensors are insensitive to electromagnetic interference, vibrations, shocks and dust. They record absolute positions and therefore do not have to be recalibrated during operation.
