Video: Joint Stand Shows Lightweight Construction Solutions From Baden-Württemberg

In the course of hybrid designs, mixed connections are becoming increasingly important, for example in vehicle construction. At the booth, Trumpf Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH is showing, among other things, a positive connection between metal and plastic, which does not require any glue or adhesion promoter. Completely new constructions can be implemented that have a higher strength compared to glued connections and simplify the production of these components. The laser manufacturer has also positioned itself widely in the area of additive manufacturing.

T-RTM process ensures special rigidity
With new lightweight construction concepts, even light technical textiles are experiencing a revival. At the joint stand, Gustav Gerster GmbH & Co. KG will be presenting, among other things, a spiral mesh for the individual reinforcement of round components. This is made possible by the fact that the diameter and material can be specially adapted. This enables a reduction in weight in relation to steel and aluminum disks to be achieved.
Albert Handtmann Elteka GmbH & Co. KG presents the newly developed composite material Hicompelt - a composite material with carbon or glass fiber scrim. A particularly high fiber volume fraction of up to 65% can be achieved by using low-viscosity cast polyamides. The composite material is produced using the so-called T-RTM process (Thermoplastic Resin Transfer Molding), which among other things ensures particularly high rigidity.

Combination of titanium and AM makes exhaust lighter
C & C Bark Metalldruckguss und Formenbau GmbH is demonstrating the possibilities of new processes with its hot chamber die casting. This enables lightweight magnesium die-cast components to be manufactured easily and in an energy-efficient manner. The process leads to considerable savings in the area of melting energy and to a reduction in the material of the cycle in hot chamber casting.
By combining new materials and technologies, many kilograms can also be saved in vehicles. The Eberspächer Group, with Prototechnik as the lightweight technology center, is presenting lightweight exhaust system systems made of titanium and components from additive manufacturing, among others. The weight is reduced by around 50% compared to an already optimized series exhaust system. This is made possible, among other things, by thin-wall structures and special expertise in the processing of special materials.
Ceramic surfaces allow adaptation to requirements
The combination of different materials in hybrid lightweight construction places new demands on the quality of surfaces, for example through ceramic coatings. With the Ceranod coating technology from ELB - Eloxalwerk Ludwigsburg Helmut Zerrer GmbH, aluminum surfaces can be adapted exactly to the requirements in various industries. Among other things, there are different geometries of impellers and turbine wheels that have been ceramic coated.
Joining technology plays an important role in lightweight construction. Weippert Kunststofftechnik GmbH produces screws and nuts from high-strength plastics with a glass fiber content of 30 to 60%. The plastic screws can replace aluminum or stainless steel screws, taking into account the technical requirements.
Every gram counts - screws and gears made of plastic
Manufacturers achieve small but decisive weight savings by using the light and precise plastic gears from Werner Bauser GmbH. Your advantage: a weight saving compared to conventional components of up to 40%. Light core materials such as foam, as shown by Gaugler & Lutz oHG at the joint stand, are also being used more and more.
Material substitution is becoming increasingly important in intelligent lightweight construction. Grieshaber GmbH & Co. specializes in the production of precision parts made of non-ferrous metals with a focus on aluminum.
The state agency is organizing the stand in Hall 6 F30 together with Baden-Württemberg International. The state agency is also a partner of the Hannover Messe Industrial Supply and is represented in the trade fair advisory board for the event. (mz)
