Video: Ringspann Completes Its Industrial Brake Portfolio

Ringspann completes its range of industrial brakes with two new product lines, which now shows all technically relevant types and operating principles. It is a series of electro-hydraulic disc brakes for braking torques of up to 30,000 Nm and a number of modern drum brakes with maximum braking torques of 10,000 Nm. Depending on the area of application, application and installation situation, these brake types should be suitable for the implementation of stop, deceleration and holding systems in conveyor and crane systems, lifting and handling systems as well as mining, construction and agricultural machinery. They are also used in marine, recycling and metallurgical technology.
With up to 600,000 Nm braking torque
At the Hanover Fair 2017, Ringspann shows how the new disc and drum brakes complete the company's previous braking program in the medium performance segment. While the pneumatic, hydraulic and electromagnetic ring brake calipers are suitable for general mechanical engineering applications with braking torques of up to 40,000 Nm, the hydraulic brake calipers from Ringspann achieve braking torques of up to 600,000 Nm for wind turbines and mining systems. Applications in drive technology and mechanical engineering that require braking torques of up to 8000 Nm (e.g. machine tool, winding systems) are covered by Ringspann with its compact and lightweight electromagnetic disc brakes.

“With their maximum clamping force limits of 30,000 Nm and 10,000 Nm, respectively, our new electrohydraulic disc and drum brakes of the DS, DT-NC and DT-ST series fit perfectly into our overall range. They form a strong midfield,”says Franz Eisele, who heads the brakes and clutches division at Ringspann. At the same time, he emphasizes the importance of this expansion of offerings for Ringspann's medium-term corporate strategy: "With the range of services and the variety of types in our current portfolio, we are now part of the small group of manufacturers whose selection represents a complete technological cross-section through the world of industrial brakes".
New areas of application and market segments
The company also plans to use the two new product lines to open up access to other areas of application for industrial brakes. While the electro-hydraulic disc brakes DS are an interesting solution for use in material handling systems (e.g. container cranes), the electro-hydraulic drum brakes DT-NC and DT-ST prove to be a particularly suitable solution where braking power between motors and transmissions is called up must - for example in bulk material handling systems. The drum brakes can also be tailored to your specific application using a whole range of options - for example, automatic adjustment for friction block wear, an adjustable brake spring, a heat-resistant brake fan or extra-wide shoes and drums.
With the completion of its industrial brake program, Ringspann wants to get closer to its goal of building a one-stop shop for industrial drive technology. According to the company management, further product expansions in other business areas will be carried out in the coming months - including in the areas of freewheels, clutches and shaft-hub connections.
