Video: New Version Of The FVA Workbench Released

"With the new license structure of FVA Workbench 4.5, we are responding to the many requests of our customers to be able to tailor the scope of services and thus the costs of the software to individual areas of application. In addition, we were able to add new calculation targets and for the first time implement the strengths of an intelligent combination of analytical methods and numerical simulations. This makes the FVA Workbench 4.5 a powerful calculation tool along the entire transmission development process,”explains Norbert Haefke, Managing Director of FVA Software & Service GmbH.

More freedom in price / performance design
The new license model as of FVA Workbench Release 4.5 includes three editions that offer functionalities for design, calculation and validation tasks. For individual special applications, additional functional extensions are available for every FVA Workbench 4.5 edition. These can be booked directly or subsequently to an FVA Workbench 4.5 Edition.
The three FVA Workbench 4.5 editions build on one another in terms of content:
- Modeler Edition: Modeling and parameterizing gears
- Extended Edition: Calculation of machine elements according to national and international standards
- Advanced Edition: Calculation of the overall system or machine elements, taking into account their environment
In every edition of FVA Workbench 4.5, the user has all the functions that are required to set up a gearbox model, to parameterize it and to calculate the power flow. The user-oriented operating concept actively supports the user in creating consistent models. Complex gear models are intuitively understandable through the visualization and animation of the model. In addition, the gearbox models can be exported to CAD programs for further processing.
Upgrade is possible at any time
An upgrade from an FVA Workbench 4.5 edition to a higher edition is possible at any time and can be arranged flexibly. This makes it possible to increase the number of licenses at short notice and offers the possibility to align the license costs not only functionally but also with the intensity of use. Licenses can be single or
Network license can be ordered. All FVA Workbench 4.5 editions include maintenance, expert support and updates for the licensed period.
The integrated calculation methods
The scope of functions of the FVA Workbench is continuously defined, checked and further developed in cooperation with leading research institutes and drive technology companies within the FVA network of experts.
The following calculation methods have been integrated into the new operating concept in Release 4.5:
- Geometry, load capacity, design and recalculation of worm gears
- Geometry and load capacity of screw gear stages
- Shrink fit calculation of spur gears
- Load distribution calculation with tooth stiffness from FEM
Consideration of the housing rigidity
With the new functionality "consideration of the housing rigidity" it is possible to include the influence of the housing rigidity on the deformation of the shaft-bearing system. By taking into account the influences of the cross between the bearing seats, the deformation of the shafts and thus the load distribution in tooth mesh changes. This effect plays an important role, especially with high forces and with soft housings.
The housing can be imported as an FEM mesh and positioned with respect to the gear unit. A stiffness matrix is created using the automatically recognized nodes on the bearing seats. This is used in the analytical calculation of cross influences in the overall transmission system. The FE analysis is carried out with an integrated FE solver specially developed for the FVA, so you do not need any additional FE software for this application.
The following helpful representations have also been added to the 3D visualization:
- Local and global cutting planes through the gearbox model
- Automatic dimensioning of the waves
- Representation of the wave bending lines
- Visual representation of the power flow in the transmission.
