The simulation of electric drives has many advantages: shorter time-to-market, automated commissioning, increased drive efficiency, optimal design, simple analysis of existing processes.

Baumüller uses various simulation tools to simulate drives and processes. Depending on the area of application, Matlab-Simulink, HIL-Simulation or Pro Simulation from Baumüller is the tool of choice. It is about drive simulation on the one hand and process process simulation on the other. The drive simulation focuses on efficient design and virtual parameterization. The process simulation offers the possibility of verifying the control software on the digital twin of the machine.

It is important that the right simulation solution based on the right simulation software is available for every problem and every customer. Using a practical example, he explains Pro Simulation in detail. In a glue-roll system, the high load-inertia ratio of 1: 200 made parameterization of the controllers difficult. Vibrations on the machine caused damage to the clutch and gearbox. The customer provides data sets and measured values with which the mechanics can be simulated. Together with the existing basic libraries, which contain virtual twins of the Baumüller devices, the controller setting can be tested and optimized virtually in the simulation model without endangering the mechanics.
