Using a so-called running model, Weiss demonstrates to the trade visitors the functionality of the B axis and its versatile application options in five-axis machining and in combined milling-turning centers. The milling spindle shown in Milan has a SK40 interface, it has a power output of 46 kW, a torque of 125 Nm and reaches speeds up to 15,000 min -1 . For higher requirements, the company offers a solution with 63 kW output.

Economic alternative

Weiss also positioned the expansion of the well-known hybrid spindle series with the new shaft height 132 mm centrally. As the most powerful variant of this type, it is offered with water or air cooling. It is suitable, for example, for machines that are used in steel beam processing. Here, the hybrid spindle is a particularly economical alternative to indirect spindle drive solutions.

Equipped with tool interfaces SK40 or HSK A63, the AH 132 hybrid spindle achieves torques of up to 191 Nm and can be equipped with innovative features. For example, a rotating union for internal tool cooling can be integrated.

In addition, the Schweinfurt spindle specialists will be showing further current developments in spindle construction and the SMI-24 interface for white spindles, which was designed together with Siemens. With this interface, spindle data are available in networked production and can therefore be used for diagnostic and preventive maintenance measures. (jv)
