Video: Atlas Copco Completes Acquisition Of Leybold Vacuum

Effective September 1, 2016, Atlas Copco AB (Stockholm, Sweden) acquired 100% of the shares in Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum GmbH, which was renamed Leybold GmbH. Atlas Copco was founded in 1873 and, as an international group, employs more than 43,000 people in over 180 countries. Leybold is now part of the Vacuum Solutions Division, which belongs to the compressor technology division, currently has around 6,500 employees and is represented in over 35 countries.
Atlas Copco relies on the strengths of the vacuum specialist for the takeover. That is why the traditional company, founded in 1850, should continue to appear as an independent Leybold brand. "Leybold's technological knowledge and development power will complement our range and strengthen our market presence," said Geert Follens, President of the Atlas Copco Vacuum Solutions Division.
New technological platform for high-performance products is created
For around 166 years, Leybold, headquartered in Cologne, has been developing and supplying vacuum pumps, systems, standardized and tailor-made vacuum solutions as well as services for various industries. As a provider of vacuum technology, the company is represented in many industrial applications such as metallurgy and industrial coating technology.
With backing pumps, high and ultra high vacuum pumps, vacuum systems, vacuum gauges, leak detectors, components and valves, as well as advice and engineering for complete vacuum solutions, the vacuum manufacturer offers general but also specific customer applications. "We look forward to continuing to support our customers with our vacuum expertise. Together with our reliable service and our pronounced customer proximity, this will continue to distinguish us as a first-class partner in the future,”explains Steffen Saur, Chief Marketing Officer and responsible for the worldwide sales and service activities of Leybold."The combination of our two companies in the fields of dry industrial vacuum pumps and high vacuum pumps for science and research creates a new technological platform for the development of high-performance products." The traditional house will continue its activities and will further expand in an expanded industrial environment. (kj)
