“We want to offer our customers added value. Our goal is to link data from products and processes. With analytics, this primary data becomes information that we use to increase the efficiency of our processes and to develop data based services for our customers. We are delighted to have found the ideal partner in IBM,”says Prof. Peter Gutzmer, Deputy Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer at Schaeffler.
Gerhard Baum, Chief Digital Officer of Schaeffler since October 2015, has defined the fields of action for digital further development: “We are particularly concentrating on expanding existing products by sensors and developing new products with integrated software. In the production environment, not only should machines and means of transport be linked based on information, but also the individual plants with the entire supply chain. The company wants to digitally improve existing processes and procedures, create service-oriented processes and promote the digital interaction of people with IT systems."
