Video: ABB And Microsoft Want To Create Largest Industrial Cloud Platform

The two partners Microsoft and ABB want to drive digital transformation in customer segments such as robotics, shipping and ports, electric vehicles and renewable energies. By choosing Microsoft as a partner for ABB's integrated cloud platform, ABB customers will in future have access to one of the largest cloud infrastructures on the market that will benefit from investments in the billions of dollars.
"Together with ABB, we offer industrial customers a digital technology and cloud platform that enables individuals and teams, right down to entire business systems, to make faster decisions based on data and information in order to create growth and seize new opportunities," says Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft.
ABB's integrated cloud platform is said to be the driver
"The partnership bundles the strengths of Microsoft and ABB and will offer our customers in the energy supply, industry and in the transport and infrastructure sector unique advantages," said Ulrich Spiesshofer, CEO of ABB. "Based on our installed base with more than 70 million connected devices and more than 70,000 digital control systems, we will build one of the world's largest industrial cloud platforms."
The announced ABB Ability offering brings together ABB's portfolio of digital solutions and services across all customer segments. ABB's new integrated cloud platform will be a key driver for ABB Ability and will create a large, open, digital, industrial ecosystem for customers, partners, suppliers and developers.
Together, ABB and Microsoft will continue to drive the development of new digital solutions that could increase customer productivity through longer run times, higher speeds and higher yields. The company also relies on Azure services such as the “Azure IoT Suite” and the “Cortana Intelligence Suite” to fully exploit the potential of data and information that is collected at the device, system, company and cloud level. ABB and Microsoft have worked together for many years.
