Video: Transfer Electricity Inductively

In order to be able to transport goods quickly and safely, mobile systems are often used that work with the help of contactless inductive energy transmission. Electrical energy is transferred from a fixed conductor to one or more mobile consumers, for example transport vehicles, without contact. E&E Kabeltechnik supplies the conductors required for such transport logistics systems. The structure of the patented cables is very complex and their production requires a lot of know-how and experience.
Special cable for contactless energy transfer
The basic building blocks of the E&E constructions are very thin individual wires made of copper, the diameter of which is less than 0.1 mm. These wires are covered with an extremely thin-walled insulation and thus insulated from each other. The know-how now lies in the selection of the right wires combined with their correct geometrical arrangement.

The line optimization minimizes, among other things, the skin effect and eddy current losses - which increase the resistance of the conductors - and thus the inductive voltage drop in each of the wires. "Only this positive effect enables the use of the conductors for contactless energy transfer in transport systems or in the field of electromobility for the cordless and plug-free energy supply of electric vehicles at appropriately configured charging stations," says Sven Ortmann from E&E.
Supplement to the skin effect quickly explained:
The so-called skin effect is a property of alternating currents in which only the outer cross-sectional area of a conductor is used for the transport of the electrons. The conductor cross section that can be used for the flow of electrons is thus reduced and the effective resistance of the conductor increases.
Long transmission lengths possible
The cables are basically suitable for all applications that have to do with inductive power supply and charging, as well as for other high-frequency power transmissions. One of its main advantages is that, due to the special design of E&E Kabeltechnik, lower power losses and thus longer transmission lengths can be achieved than with conventional solutions. “Because of the extended transmission links, fewer connections in the form of regenerators are required for signal amplification,” emphasizes Ortmann. "This results in an optimized price / performance ratio."
The cables are UL-approved and are suitable for fixed installation even in harsh industrial environments. The shapes and dimensions are almost freely definable. Colors and prints can be selected according to customer requirements, for example according to the corporate identity. The products are also available in small quantities, i.e. in short lengths.

Use in the Movitrans contactless energy supply system
The special conductors in the form of medium-frequency low-voltage cables are used, for example, in the Movitrans contactless energy supply system from SEW-Eurodrive. This system is useful when goods are to be transported at high speed over long travel distances. The areas of application include, among others, cross transfer carriages, transport systems in logistics centers, pusher platforms with a lifting table, electric monorails and floor transport systems.
The Movitrans system consists of stationary and mobile components for the contactless energy supply of mobile electrical consumers. The electrical energy is transmitted selectively or along a route. It flows according to the principle of inductive energy transfer from a coil or a fixed conductor to the consumer via electromagnetic fields without contact.
Lay only two cables
The electromagnetic coupling takes place via an air gap. As a result of the freedom from contact, the vehicles can travel at speeds of over 10 m / s. Since the line cables are laid in the ground, there are no longer any obstacles that disrupt cross traffic.
Compared to classic energy transfer, e.g. B. using conductor rails or charging stations, the Movitrans system is particularly low-wear and therefore maintenance-free. Through the use of contactless energy transfer, no battery has to be carried, which u. a. has a positive influence on the design of mobile assistance systems.
There are only two cables to be laid along the route - the patented special cables from E&E Kabeltechnik. Bends and switches can be constructed freely. This saves costs and assembly time. (sh)
