Ziesemer emphasized that Germany is the focus of cybercriminal attacks. The damage is often immense. The ZVEI has therefore created a current security situation picture for automation with the Federal Office for Information Security. Accordingly, cybersecurity is becoming more and more popular on the executive levels - it is now a top priority for two thirds of companies. Ziesemer emphasized that the findings of the survey could help all companies to prepare themselves even better for cyber crime in the future.
Industrial electronics and automotive electronics as growth drivers
The focus of European and especially German microelectronics companies is on the growth segments of industrial and automotive electronics. Since the turn of the millennium, sales of industrial electronics in Germany have grown by 59% to just under three billion euros. Automotive electronics even increased by 117% to around 5.5 billion euros. Both segments are of great importance for the future topics of Industry 4.0 and automated driving, which is why further growth is expected. In contrast, a slight decline is expected for the ICT and consumer electronics segments in Germany.
Worldwide, the microelectronics industry expects single-digit growth across all segments by 2020. European companies are expected to grow slightly to sales of approximately $ 38 billion during this period. Your share of the world market will then be around 10%. (kj)
