Video: New EtherNet-IO Modules With Multi-protocol And Power Connector

The modules can be used independently of the controller and enable self-sufficient applications. They open the way for decentralized signal transmission in the sense of Industry 4.0. The multiprotocol function enables standardization in the machine, where previously different module types were required. A switch can be used to switch between the protocols. For EtherNet IP, the IP address can also be set directly. In addition to addressing, the integrated web server also enables complete parameterization and the retrieval of status and diagnostic information via PC.
Power concept covers peak loads
The new power concept with L-coded M12 connector provides power supply up to 16 A and can therefore also cover peak loads. This reduces the parallel wiring and the tracking of the supply by up to 40 percent. The robust, fully encapsulated metal housing corresponds to protection class IP65 / 67/69 and is very compact with a length of only 200 mm and a height of 18 mm.
Simple programming is sufficient for the modules to perform decentralized functions and relieve the central controller. Communication effort and reaction times are reduced, the central overview is preserved. The decentralized logic can be limited to some of the IOs, while the others are left to the controller. This enables interaction between the controller and the decentralized sequence program. The integrated Isocron Real Time Switch (IRT) supports the ring topologies MRP for Profinet and DLR for Ethernet IP. (jv)
