Video: Low-emission Adhesive Tape Ensures Cleaner Air In The Vehicle Interior
So far, indoor air in cars has not always been the best. It is not uncommon for vehicles to be heavily contaminated with volatile organic compounds, or VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) for short. In high concentration, these can lead to health irritation and allergies. With the VDA 278, the German Association of the Automotive Industry has designed a test procedure that can measure volatile organic compounds and condensable emissions (FOG).

Proven quality for clean air
3M had the new low-VOC tapes 98010LVC and 99015LVC tested by an external institute in accordance with the VDA 278 test standard and achieved VOC values of less than 100 ppm. In addition, the tapes were also tested according to the Jama standard of the Japanese Automobile Association. The use of 3M's low-emission adhesive tapes thus supports vehicle manufacturers in meeting their target values.
Low emissions - diverse design
The thin, double-sided low-VOC adhesive tapes are used as fastening solutions, for example for carpets, decorative elements, seals, shelves, cladding, seat sensors or for fixing insulation materials. When designing the interior, they help to reduce noise and weight.
Easy processing
The adhesive tapes based on acrylate develop a high adhesive strength on many high and low energy surfaces and are easy to process. While the 3M 98010LVC is particularly suitable as transfer adhesive tape with scrim for large-area lamination processes and adhesives, the 3M 99015LVC is very easy to punch through its paper fleece backing.
