One of the special achievements is the research of ultrafine-grained structures, which result from massive plastic deformation of light metals and have particularly interesting mechanical properties such as high strength and good formability. The focus in the coming years will be on integrating effective heat treatment strategies into the manufacturing process of high-strength aluminum screws.

The method of precision engineering developed as part of the research is now to be transferred to a process chain in industry. The goal is to harness the positive effects of a shortened heat treatment time and increased strength in a new process chain. Together with the practice partner EJOT, Bad Berleburg, the changed excretion kinetics of the aluminum materials are researched after an inhomogeneous forming and change of direction in model and process chain tests.
