Video: A New Level Of Productivity Has Been Reached

"With digitalization, pneumatics are opening up a new level of productivity and economy," said Paul Cleaver, CEO of Aventics. This should start with the selection and configuration of components in the design phase. Using Aventics' online configuration tools, users can select suitable accessories in addition to the product. All relevant information, such as 3D models, dimensional and position drawings, circuit diagrams and parts lists are delivered after configuration.
Record operating data with existing sensors
As an additional module for the AES valve electronics, the Smart Pneumatics Monitor (SPM) evaluates existing sensor signals and derives status information from them. In order to monitor the wear of a shock absorber, the SPM uses the limit switch signals to measure the course of the damping over time. Algorithms written by Aventics based on application experience evaluate this data internally and provide information about it. This is done via the integrated OPC-UA server, but other communication methods can also be selected, such as MQTT or cloud connectors for different providers. Defined persons can be informed directly via email or SMS.

Commissioning does not require any PLC knowledge. Users drag and drop the components to be observed together on a graphical user interface and link them together. The module can also control the current energy consumption. In this way, users can take measures and meet the requirements of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive.

Cooperation for complete solutions
"Industry 4.0 also means networking suppliers for mechanical engineering and automation," emphasizes Paul Cleaver. "Aventics is therefore working with other companies to find solutions." At the Hannover Messe 2017, Aventics is showing Industry 4.0-compatible modules developed in cooperation with the vacuum specialist Schmalz, the compressor manufacturer Boge and the sensor provider IFM.
