With ring gears, the deformation of the ring gear is three-dimensional and the calculation with the one-dimensional bar model used in the shaft calculation is inaccurate. It becomes even more complex if the web is offset laterally and the wheel body is therefore asymmetrical. For this type of wheel body too, the flexibility in the axial plane can now be calculated with the integrated FE software. The deformations are converted to the level of intervention and a more accurate prediction of the misalignment of the flank line is obtained. The results of the deformation calculation can be checked with the Salome software.

Realistic evaluation of deformations

With the DPK module in Kisssoft 03/2016, the wheel body geometry can be parameterized in a practical manner. The FE software Code_Aster then carries out the FE calculation and creates the influence matrix, which determines the flank line deformation in the shaft and gearwheel calculation - this also for different load levels. The realistic evaluation of the flank line deformations forms the basis for a more precise calculation of the flank line correction and thus leads to a successful optimization of the gear running properties.
