Video: Quieter And Quieter Thanks To The Optimized Spindle Surface

Miniature ball screws with spindle diameters from 3 to 16 mm are mainly used in semiconductor technology, optics as well as in medical and measurement technology. Steinmeyer offers two standard spindle series, five different nut shapes and, on request, application-specific versions for clean room or vacuum applications.
Steinmeyer has recently started using the innovative Optislite technology to manufacture the spindles for the miniature ball screws. It minimizes the surface roughness of the spindle race and almost completely eliminates irregularities. The process reduces the surface quality Rz by 60% compared to standard spindles. At the same time, the material load share Rmr (c) increases by 70%. The results are noticeably improved running properties, a reduced noise level at high speeds, an improved lubrication effect and a higher uniformity of the idle torque.
Xi-Plus for precision ball screws
In machine tools, precision ball screws ensure the exact positioning of the workpiece and tool holder. Steinmeyer now offers Xi-Plus quality production for all positioning ball screws with P tolerances and nominal diameters from 16 to 80 mm. Thanks to this technology developed by Steinmeyer, much better surface qualities are achieved in the manufacture of the spindles. Like the Optislite technology for miniature ball screws, the Xi-Plus technology ensures optimal running properties. Xi-Plus spindles vibrate less, run more quietly, are quieter and are characterized by improved running-in behavior. The bandwidth of the torque signal could be reduced by 40%. (br)
