Video: Double The Bearing Clearance

The main design feature of the servo couplings from Jakob Antriebstechnik for large center distances is a variable-length intermediate tube that can be optimally adapted to the customer-specific application. It is supported on the inside of the metal bellows by a special cardanic bearing on both sides of the hub parts. The bellows elements are thus relieved of the weight of the pipe and in the event of a crash, possible damage to the system or personal injury are excluded from the outset. The precise manufacture of the individual elements ensures high concentricity and smooth running behavior.
In many cases, the couplings can be used as connecting, articulated or synchronous shafts and can replace intermediate shaft designs with complex, additional intermediate storage. Alignment errors, particularly parallel misalignments, can be compensated for to a considerable extent.
The intermediate tube is usually designed as an aluminum tube. It can also be supplied in stainless steel as an alternative material version, as well as in high-quality, directional and balanced quality.
The coupling hubs are manufactured in a half-shell version or as a plug-in, axially displaceable claw hub. Jakob offers distance clutches designed for torques from 7 to 3200 Nm. In special versions, however, torques of up to 50,000 Nm can be achieved.
In addition to the steel or aluminum version, glass fiber or carbon fiber reinforced plastics are gaining ground due to the required lightweight construction or high speed. Lightweight construction plays a major role here, but aspects such as electrical conductivity and explosion protection can also be arguments for using GRP or CFRP instead of metallic materials.
A CFRP pipe will score especially if the center distance has to be designed according to the critical speed. Although the CFRP intermediate tube is 7 times lighter than the steel tube, it has a higher rigidity. As a result, longer spacing dimensions can alternatively be realized without providing intermediate storage of the shaft, or smaller pipe diameters can be used under otherwise unchanged conditions. Cages, Clearance, Fits: Specify Rolling Bearings Correctly

There are many popular thinking mistakes in the selection of rolling bearings. A good example of this is the myth about the load-bearing capacity of roller bearings: It is not only the load rating in the catalog, but above all the correct technical specification that decides the performance of a bearing. In addition to the correct selection of the cage, clearance and fit also play a decisive role
