VDI 3822 Sheet 2.2.10 provides an overview of the instrumental analysis methods proposed in VDI 3822 Sheet 2.2.1 to Sheet 2.2.9 and their applications in damage analysis on elastomer products. Damage analysts must be able to identify the appropriate analysis methods for a developed problem and to know their potential for problem solving. You have to be able to classify which type of knowledge a method can be expected in the present case of damage or which method can be used to make a desired statement. For this purpose, the guideline lists the methods frequently used in the damage analysis of elastomer products, their abbreviations, as they are used in the other sheets of the guideline series, their functional principle is briefly defined and it is explainedwhich properties can be characterized with it.
VDI 3822 Sheet 2.2.7 describes typical damage patterns on elastomer products due to thermal loads and shows their damage mechanisms in order to enable comparisons to be made with damage events that have occurred. It provides information on how to determine the causes of the damage and supports you in finding potential damage hypotheses and mechanisms. The resulting knowledge forms the basis of targeted measures to remedy and prevent damage.
