Rose Systemtechnik wants to simplify the ordering process for users with two housing configurators and at the same time save personnel resources internally, which should then be used to expand application advice

Rose's design department creates the configurators itself. The software Driveworks serves as the basis. There is worldwide support for the program and Rose colleagues from India have already had positive experiences with its use.

Reduce workload with the configurator

At the beginning of 2018, the first product configurator for internal tests based on the control housing system Commander SL 4000 was created . The designers chose the Commander “because we thought it would be one of our simplest products. In fact, programming was quite complicated because the SL 4000 was made up of many components and we were still in the learning phase,”recalls construction manager Axel Brandhorst.

By using the internal SL 4000 configurator, the effort for creating and checking technical drawings was significantly reduced. Where previously 15 to 20 minutes of work were required, the basic model of the SL4000 can now be calculated in around ten minutes. “Then the designer has to edit the automatically generated models and update the drawings. The construction time has nevertheless been reduced considerably compared to before,”reports Brandhorst. This also benefits the customer, who receives "his" data much faster when making an inquiry.

After the successful test run, the decision was made to also program a configurator for the new Rose Modular System (RMS). The RMS offers users a large parts kit from which they can select the components for their stainless steel housing themselves. The basis of the RMS is a uniform basic construction, which is supplemented by standardized individual components. There are 25 housing sizes with different installation depths, which enable a total of over 40,000 different housing variants.

Configurator can be used directly by customers

Unlike the SL 4000 configurator, the configurator for the Rose Modular System can also be used directly by customers. You then have the option of putting together your own stainless steel housing from the modular system on a PC or tablet. The RMS configurator is currently still in the test phase. Axel Brandhorst expects the RMS configurator to go live on the Rose website in mid-2021 . From then on, the technical drawings for the stainless steel housings will be created automatically and forwarded directly to production.
