The Hannover Messe 2020 will be postponed, as the Deutsche Messe AG has just announced. The industrial fair is now scheduled to take place from July 13th to 17th .
Requirements too high
This decision is made in close consultation with the Hanover Region Health Office, the exhibitor board and the partner associations VDMA and ZVEI. The health office urged Deutsche Messe AG to adhere to the requirements of the Robert Koch Institute.
The requirements that the Robert Koch Institute places on large events are high: fever monitoring stations would have to be installed at all entrances and participants from risk areas and participants who had contact with people from risk areas should not enter the event . To ensure this, the trade fair should have checked all participants, exhibitors, service providers, stand builders and catering companies.

In a current statement, the fair writes: "The measures mentioned cannot be implemented by Deutsche Messe." The implementation would also lead to the event "being impaired to such an extent that the intended event purpose is neither for the exhibitors nor for the Visitors could not be reached or could only be reached with considerable restrictions."
"With the appointment in July, we are offering our exhibitors the earliest possible time to present their innovations to a global audience," says Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Messe AG. Köckler sees a great opportunity in the early date: "This is how the world's most important industrial fair can provide important impulses for the global economy as early as July."
The VDMA and the ZVEI also support the decision. "In view of the current difficulties caused by the corona virus, we think a postponement of the Hannover Messe to July is the right thing to do," says VDMA general manager Thilo Brodtmann.
