Video: Seven Innovations Related To The Transmission
With Evogear, Nidec Graessner offers a dynamic servo drive solution that should ensure very high performance with a compact and stable design. Due to the lifetime lubrication (> 30,000 h S5 load spectrum as a basis for design), the angular gearboxes are practically maintenance-free under normal operating conditions. The high efficiency of up to 96% is also energy-saving. The Evogear is a further development in which components have been reduced, the design optimized and further gear ratios and additional output variants introduced. The planetary output stage also offers two-stage ratios up to i = 100: 1 with higher torsional rigidity.
Select installation position variably
A new worm gear from Ruhrantrieb KG is about to be launched - the SN5VH. The lightweight aluminum housing in a modular and compact design based on the modular principle offers many possible uses for industrial applications. The output shafts can be implemented both as a solid shaft and as a hollow shaft. In order to be able to react to different conditions in different applications, the installation position can be selected variably. Gear motor combinations between 32 W and 120 W and ratios from 7 to 50: 1 are available, with which effective torques of up to 9 Nm are possible.
Attachment measuring gear for NC-controlled machine tools, systems or robots
From now on, KBK Antriebstechnik also offers front-mounted measuring gear units in its product range. They have precise gears, which should guarantee a very high transmission accuracy. KBK took over the gearbox production in 2019 from the long-term cooperation partner Merz Antriebstechnik.
The front measuring gears have been developed for NC-controlled machine tools, systems or robots. But they are also ideal for use in revolving towers, antennas or cranes. Here the gears engage in the sprockets and precisely capture the current position of the application.
Front-mounted measuring gear units from KBK are manufactured with outside diameters from 65 mm to 180 mm. The company offers the measuring gears in the two series VGA and VGB. While the measuring gearboxes of the VGA series enable the direct mounting of an encoder via a pinion, the encoder in the VGB version is connected to the gearbox via a mounting bell and a coupling. Both gearbox designs are individually designed and translate into fast or slow depending on customer requirements. The backlash-free, sealed gearboxes (IP 44) are also available in a stainless steel version on request.
Update for configuration tool
In the Neugart Calculation Program (NCP), designers can calculate complex load profiles in the drive train and use this as a basis to determine the optimal application-specific engine-transmission combination. With the update, this is now also possible for traction drives in driverless transport vehicles (AGVs / AGVs) and for the new NGV gearbox series tailored to them. In addition, existing projects from current or older NCP versions can now be added to newly designed control systems and compared with them. In addition, Neugart version 4.2 further simplified the operation of the software tool and further improved the user-friendliness.
Condition monitoring of reduction gears
The ABB Ability Condition Monitoring portfolio for the drive train has been expanded to include Dodge reducers equipped with the Smart Sensor for mechanical power transmission components . The gearboxes sit as a closed gearbox between the engine and the driven machines. They reduce the output speed while increasing the torque. This function plays an important role in many industrial equipment, for example conveyor belts in the mining industry or in the rock and cement industries. By equipping the reduction gears with the smart sensor for mechanical power transmission products, potential problems can be identified at an early stage using the vibration and temperature data collected.

High-reduction cycloidal gears with nominal torques up to 28,000 Nm
Thanks to their special design, cycloidal gears enable high reductions with two or three gear stages - and that with extreme precision over the entire service life (hysteresis loss <1 arcmin). The high precision has the side effect that the transmission error in the transmission is very low. As a result, the output speed remains constant. The gears use cams and rollers for power transmission. The two-stage reduction principle (spur gear stage and eccentric stage) reduces vibrations and inertia. With its wide portfolio of cycloidal gears with nominal torques of up to 28,000 Nm, Nabtesco offers powerful variants.
Smart gears make drivetrains fit for digitalization
With the smart transmission with cynapse feature , Wittenstein Alpha wants to make drivetrains fit for digitalization. Sensor element, evaluation and logic functions are integrated - the IO-Link interface ensures universal Industry 4.0 connectivity. Building on the intelligence and communication skills of the transmission generation, the company is currently developing a broad portfolio of smart services that enable condition monitoring.
Wittenstein Cyber Motor has launched a new small servo drive system, the size of which has been reduced by around 30% compared to the previous version. The multi-Ethernet interface enables flexible connectivity.
