Video: Nine New Products For Clutches And Brakes
The new safety brake Intorq's BFK518 is designed to combine the advantages of a spring-applied brake with the performance of a permanent magnet brake. With its high, reliable holding torque, its small size and high temperature stability, the spring-applied brake is suitable for many applications - from robotics to packaging technology to use in production machines. The high braking torque results from the large friction radius of the rotor and the small air gap made with close tolerance. A flange manufactured as a bent sheet metal part serves as a support structure that lies close to the rotor - according to the manufacturer, the friction surface is used one hundred percent. Compared to permanent magnet brakes, the spring-applied brake does not require manual adjustment work, which saves time and prevents errors. Spring-applied brakes are closed-circuit brakes. Several compression springs generate the braking torque in the de-energized state through frictional engagement. Even in the event of a power failure, the fail-safe brake should ensure safety.
Lightweight spacer coupling and torsionally stiff metal bellows coupling
The "Simple-Flex" series from Jakob Antriebstechnik is a new spacer coupling that can be manufactured up to 6 m in length and does not require additional intermediate storage. According to the manufacturer, a simple design is possible thanks to a sophisticated composite tube with a multi-layer, angle-specific fiber configuration. This means that the coupling compensating elements that are otherwise necessary and the internal support at the two pipe ends can be dispensed with.
According to the company, it was possible to use simulation calculations and test series to develop a composite tube that has both bending flexibility and high torsional rigidity. The low weight and the associated low mass moments of inertia are intended to ensure high operating speeds and torques with excellent running smoothness, without neglecting to compensate for shaft misalignments. The new spacer coupling is optionally available with a rotationally symmetrical cone clamping ring clamp or with an assembly-friendly half-shell hub. The two available composite pipe sizes cover torques up to 1000 Nm.
The metal bellows coupling KSD from Jakob Antriebstechnik with six-shaft bellows is flexible and easy to install thanks to the use of cone bushings as shaft-hub connections. According to the manufacturer, the coupling ensures safe transmission of all forces and torques, even with small shaft diameters and without an additional feather key. According to the company, the rotationally symmetrical structure ensures ideal, dynamic operating behavior - even at very high speeds. In addition to use in special high-speed test benches, the torsionally rigid, flexible coupling is also used in servo and actuators. (sh) www.jakobantriebstechnik.de
Solution concepts for predictive maintenance
Based on permanent inspection, Mayr power transmission offers solution concepts for the predictive maintenance of electromagnetic safety brakes . Because these brakes are predestined components for maintenance, safety and system availability and allow conclusions to be drawn about system operation. The safety brakes are monitored without sensors using the retrofittable Roba-brake-checker module. Through an extended analysis of current and voltage, the module detects the movement of the armature disk and knows the condition of the brake. In addition to switching status, temperature and wear, it also monitors for traction or traction reserve, i.e. whether the magnet is still able to release the brake. The module is intended to map more parameters during monitoring than with a conventional switching status control. In an extended version it is available with an additional board with a customer-specific interface (e.g. optical, WiFi, IO-Link,OPC UA). It can also provide data on switching time, current, voltage, resistance, power and relative starting current.

Compact shaft couplings new in the range
The connection of a ball screw drive or a trapezoidal screw to the drive journal of a motor or gearbox is usually not done rigidly, but via a flexible coupling. This can compensate for misalignment or misalignment and minimize vibrations and shocks in the drive train. Dr. Tretter now offers compact shaft couplings for this. They consist of two identical hubs with concave claws and an elastomeric ring gear between them, which enables an elastic connection. The respective inner diameter is freely selectable depending on the size. Because the aluminum is anodized, they are very low in corrosion.
Axial short safety coupling
The short axial safety coupling ECU from Enemac is designed for tight installation spaces. It separates by using disc springs, which are supposed to guarantee a large adjustment range without changing the disc springs. According to the manufacturer, one locking point per revolution using the sophisticated ball locking principle ensures that the drive train is separated within a few degrees and that it is automatically reinserted after 360 °. The stroke of the balls can be queried using a proximity switch and the signal for switching off the drive can be sent to the control. 18 sizes between 1.8 Nm and 9000 Nm release torque are available.

Intelligent clutch as an alternative to torque transducers
The intelligent coupling from R + W is an upgraded series coupling that offers additional functions thanks to an integrated sensor system. The sensors measure torque, speed, acceleration, rotation and the position in space. This data is processed directly in the internal electronics and simultaneously transferred and displayed on a wirelessly connected mobile device. The integrated electronics do not affect the mechanical properties of the coupling. It can also compensate for axial, lateral and angular misalignment and transmit torque. R + W thus offers a smart alternative to a torque transducer.

Multi-disc clutch with small diameter and short length
The FD-HS (high-speed clutch) is a multi-plate clutch from Reich-Kupplungen. According to the manufacturer, compared to other multi-plate clutches, it is lighter, has a smaller outer diameter, shorter installation lengths and is designed for higher speeds. The torque is transmitted by means of high-strength dowel screws without backlash over the plate packs, which are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The FD-HS series is used in high-performance and high-speed areas. It is balanced for the maximum speed according to DIN ISO 21940. It is optionally available according to the ATEX directive and compliance with API 671.
Shaft-hub connections for high torques
In the field of friction-locked shaft-hub connections , shrink disks are one of the most important drive elements of machine and plant manufacturers. Ringspann has expanded these in the range and the standard series RLK 603 S with further three-part shrink discs. These are powerful external clamping connections for attaching hollow shafts or hubs to shafts without play. In the RLK 603 S series, the manufacturer particularly emphasizes the very high torque capacity over a wide range from 18 Nm to 156,700 Nm as well as the compatibility with important industrial and supplier standards for drive technology.
