Video: Air Springs Dampen The Valkyrie Ride From The Amplifier And Pickup

The song "Good vibrations" by the Beach Boys is literally a hit. The opposite of this is shocks, oscillations and vibrations that cloud the listening experience or make it impossible. The engineers at electronics company BairuikeTechnology Co., Ltd. also know that hi-fi purists are critical. Just over 30 kilometers northeast of Hong Kong, they develop and manufacture high-quality tube amplifiers and the corresponding components in Shenzhen, China.
In order to demonstrate the performance of the audio products to trading partners from all over the world, the trade press and end customers, visitors are welcomed in a specially designed demonstration room. When the noise from an adjacent workshop where punching work was carried out proved to be too loud, action had to be taken. Because worse than the pure volume from next door was the low-frequency interference coming from there, which was transmitted to the tube amplifier and the music it reproduced.

Anyone who has ever felt the bass at a concert or in a club can imagine what is meant. Because no matter how loud you play against these interferences with the best system, they remain perceptible.
The engineers at BairuikeTechnology wanted to eliminate this interference under all circumstances. Finally, they were in a critical development and test phase for a new high-end device, which they wanted to present to the audiophile public as best as possible under the EIZZ brand name, first in the company's own demonstration room and then at trade fairs. The company has advanced production facilities and a strong research and development department.
On virtual paths against the corona crisis
In view of the latest developments relating to the corona virus, events are being canceled or postponed in a row. The future can belong to digital platforms that can compensate for this development. With the "Industrial Generation Network", the Vogel Communications Group presents a solution for professionals in the industry. As a digital supplement, the platform enables extensive networking: the focus is on digital encounters and establishing contacts, as well as product presentation and thematic exchange. Tools such as making appointments and video conferences enable professionals to network, make appointments and do research close to the respective branch. The platform thus replaces the currently severely restricted face-to-face communication, especially at trade fairs.
How can the platform help me?
The management of BairuikeTechnology also conducts market research and analysis for the greatest possible level of quality, innovation and competitiveness. The latter in particular stood out in the present case because the right contact persons could be contacted within a very short period of time in order to approach the solution to the problem.
Air springs eliminate the unwanted vibrations
As a result of the search for specialists in the field of vibration isolation, the engineers from BairuikeTechnology in Shenzhen in southern China came across a trading partner of ACE shock absorber GmbH. The company has its headquarters in Langenfeld in North Rhine-Westphalia for worldwide marketing and sales as well as the location in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA for engineering and production.

But ACE also has four manufacturing plants and five branches worldwide, including one in Changzhou, which is further north near Shanghai in the People's Republic of China. There, according to the descriptions of the case by the trading partner in southern China, it was quickly agreed: "We want to protect our customers' devices as much as possible with our solutions against unwanted vibrations," said Ligen Zhang, Regional Sales Manager at ACE, describing the task. In the course of this, it was first necessary to filter out the oscillation frequency of 20 Hz, which is the lowest frequency that the human ear can perceive. For this purpose, four PLM-1 air springs were provided from the vibration technology business area.

Effective against shocks and vibrations, these machine elements made of metal and neoprene are among the low-frequency air suspension elements. Usually they keep vibrations z. B. away from high performance and precision machines. A ratio of 1: 1 between horizontal and vertical natural frequency ensures high stability and also very good service life.
With their extremely low natural frequency of 3 Hz, they are used in industrial environments, especially for measuring tables, highly sensitive test benches, high-speed presses and production systems, as low-frequency vibration and shock isolation. The solution, which is technically very easy to integrate into existing applications, impresses with a large selection. With eight different types of construction immediately available from stock, which can carry both small loads from 45 kg to large ones of 8,800 kg, individual devices as well as entire constructions can be isolated from unwanted vibrations from the outset simply by retrofitting them or embedding them Ideally level the integrated valve.
When engineers use ACE components as vibration dampers, the internal air chamber provides significant insulation from 5 Hz upwards. The PLM-1 used in this application are at the lower end of the load range of 45 kg. For this reason, four of these little helpers were used for the hi-fi brand EIZZ in an initial test setup.
Sound becomes an experience
The first impression of the terminal, which was immobilized in the area of the disturbing vibrations, was consistently positive. The experts at BairuikeTechnology not only wanted to hear the effects of the air springs, but also wanted to make their personal impression objectifiable. At this point, Ligen Zhang recommended ordering the company's own Vibro Checker Pro app together with the external USB sensor Digiducer 333D01.
This is the further development of the Vibro Checker app, which has been successfully established on the market by ACE Stuffer GmbH since its launch in 2014
While vibrations on machines and components in the frequency range up to 50 Hz can be measured quickly and easily with the free basic version, Vibro Checker Pro extends this range many times over and is therefore predestined for the special requirements in the present case. Because the combination of app and USB sensor turns Apple mobile phones into a professional measuring device with which vibrations of up to 8000 Hz and down to 1 Hz can be measured and evaluated easily and quickly.
The sensor is only connected via the Lightning or USB interface and activated via the app. Compared to the heavier measuring systems that have been customary to date, this solution offers users powerful and inexpensive measuring equipment with a total weight of less than 1 kg.
Since ACE relies on a high degree of visualization not only for the presentation of the results, but also for the operation, the tests were also carried out intuitively and quickly in China. After successful measurement, the results could be saved and simply sent to your own desktop, to the specialist departments and to the distributor using the e-mail function. Encouraged by the positive measurement results, the Chinese specialist BairuikeTechnology uses the PLM-1 not only for the EIZZ tube amplifiers in the demo room and at trade fairs as a visual signal of the highest acoustic art.
The air springs from ACE are now also offered to potential customers as accessories for customized hi-fi systems. This ensures that the sounds of pop classics such as Good Vibrations are transmitted as faithfully and vibration-free as thundering orchestral pieces with the tonal impact of Richard Wagner's Valkyrie ride.
