You only need a little skill to make this childhood dream come true. You will see: building a knight's castle is not as difficult and time-consuming as it sounds.

The story can go on differently: The old wizard turns the dragon into a nice rabbit. There are plenty of opportunities to play around a knight's castle - tournaments, festivals, fights. When you build a knight's castle , the colorful, turbulent Middle Ages move into the children's room. And you only need two weekends for this.

Build knight's castle

The castle complex and figures are easy to build and the individual parts can be simply sawed out. The elements of the knight's castle consist of beech glue wood panels. Spruce or pine panels are cheaper, but not as stable. Cut the individual parts to size using a circular saw or have them cut to size at the hardware store. Ring walls made of a 27 mm thick plate surround the system. Behind the walls there are still ramparts made from the remains of beech wood. These measure exactly 100 x 150 mm and are 27 mm thick. Knights are on the lookout on the five defensive towers. And if the dragon or someone else behaves incorrectly, he goes to jail. This consists of 19 mm thick glued wood. A drawbridge is also part of a decent knight's castle. It can be opened and closed correctly: a chain connects the bridge with the crank rod, which is inserted through the side walls of the gate.

Walls, towers, prison and gate are not connected by the way. This is how different game combinations can be put together: For example, a knight's castle quickly became two separate ones - one for the red, the other for the blue knight's legion. You can cut the appropriate pennants from paper or fabric scraps and hoist them on the tower of each castle. When the game of knights is over, all parts fit into a toy box - including the medieval weapons, which you can almost always make use of when making them.

Tinker knight figures and weapons

Because the knights probably have to endure a lot, we sawed them out of stable multiplex panels. With wooden figures, legs or heads would break off too quickly. After cutting out, smooth the edges of the figures with the fine drill or by hand with 180-grit sandpaper. You need patience to paint: Always let one color dry before you apply the next one. The colors must be suitable for children's toys, so they must be saliva-proof.
