With the Sudoku board game you can now try out and correct it.

The forerunner of the logic game that only became popular in Japan in 1986 was the carré latin by the Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler (1707-1783). Translated Sudoku means something like: "Each number must stand alone" or "isolate the numbers". In the classic Sudoku, a playing field consists of a 9 x 9 playing field grid, which is divided into smaller 3 x 3 blocks. The aim of the game is to enter the numbers 1 to 9 on the field so that each number appears only once in every row, in every column and in every 3 x 3 sub-square. Several numbers are already specified as the output. However, there are more than six trillion possibilities (a 6 with 21 zeros!). If you build our Sudoku yourself, you can try (almost) all of them.

The Sudoku board game consists of a 300 x 300 mm beech glue board (18 mm thick). To divide the game board into the required nine squares, we attached a self-made depth stop to a fine saw: Simply attach a small wooden strip to the saw blade with double-sided adhesive tape. Practical tip: Pay attention to the parallel edges of the saw blade and wooden strip! We drilled the individual holes 10 mm deep.

Build Sudoku yourself: the characters

The game pieces made of solid wood round bars (ø 20 mm) are a total of 25 mm long. Otherwise, the same processing instructions apply as for our human-annoy-you-not variant. We painted the tokens red on one side before the numbers were applied. This token side signals predetermined numbers, around which the logic game must be completed. Depending on the level of difficulty, specifications of 20 to 36 stones are common. However, at least 17 numbers should be specified. If there are fewer, a clear result is no longer possible. Incidentally, the number of predefined numbers does not necessarily determine the level of difficulty. The most important thing is their position and which numbers are given. For beginners, it is therefore advisable to first build light templates from the Internet.
