In view of the exposed residential location, it made sense to combine the thermal insulation measures with a more attractive design of the facade, and to create additional living space in the course of the renovation on the top floors. In the past, the inclusion of glass elements in the facade design had met with a positive response from tenants. It is a good thing for the housing association that the implementation of ideas in building projects is discussed and weighed up with industry and executing trades. Michaela Gehl, deputy board member, believes that the key to success is to combine the high quality of the product with the quality of the workmanship. The housing cooperative has always had good experiences with the design of lively and colorful facades with products from the Caparol range. For example, the planner and property consultant Axel Schmidt-Adlung suggested integrating the “Airtec Glass” and “Airtec Glassic” glass facades from Lithodecor (DAW Group) into the Capatect thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). It is a ventilated, rear-ventilated facade made of color-coated safety glass panes, some of which are glued to lightweight concrete supports, and which are attached to an aluminum substructure. A mineral wool insulation belonging to the system with the WLZ 032/035 is used as thermal protection.
