Capadecor StuccoDecor Di Luce, a dispersion-based filler, creates effectively reflective surfaces with a depth effect. 1200 square meters of wall space had to be made to shine.

Four stairwells of the Rü-Karree in Essen-Rüttenscheid have recently been renovated. The client's wish: a glossy surface that supports the representative ambience. Capadecor StuccoDecor Di Luce lives from the interplay with light reflections from deeper leveling layers and reflections on the surface - depending on the incidence of light and the lighting situation. This reflective sheen combined with a pleasant surface feel gives the stairwells of the building complex representative interior walls with a special appearance.

"A separate coating is not required to maintain the special mirror finish," reports property consultant Michael Trockel. "The shine comes from the material." If the craftsman applies the filler twice, Venetian, marbled and stain-like optics can be created. A third coat of spatula significantly increases the gloss effect.
In addition, the material is easy to maintain and hard-wearing compared to other filling techniques. The surface is not only insensitive to dirt and dust, but also withstands splashes of liquids and abrasive clothing without being scratched.
The color of the wall coating was mixed on site until the desired light gray tone was achieved. The painting company Netterdon, who has been designing objects in Essen and the surrounding area for over twelve years, applied the product. "The filler is easy to work with," says Mike Netterdon. "Thanks to this smoothing technology, the customer receives impressive surfaces in simple elegance." Four employees worked on the property for three to four months. “Smoothing and filling techniques live from the handwriting of the painter. It took us a few days to control the structure of the areas with a uniform handwriting,”reports Netterdon.
Challenging height
The height of the walls in the stairwells posed a challenge: since work had to be carried out over five to six floors, the use of mobile scaffolding was essential. The result speaks for itself - and delighted the client so much that in a follow-up order the "Villa Bredeney" from Essen with StuccoDecor Di Luce also received mirror-gloss surfaces in the same color. Markus Wedel, Technical Product Manager at Caparol, explains the peculiarity of the processing of StuccoDecor Di Luce: "Prerequisite for an optimal surface appearance with this filler technique is preparatory work with chord spatula fine." Filled the entire surface. Then they coated the surfaces wet-on-wet with StuccoDecor Di Luce,.“We used a stainless double-leaf spatula for the double order. This tool is also used for polishing in order to reduce the risk of polishing through,”explains Netterdon. In this way, the mirror shine comes naturally and the surfaces get their characteristic depth effect despite the low layer density. The Rü-Karree not only impresses on the outside with its historic sandstone facade, which was combined with steel and glass elements, but also on the inside attracts the eye of the beholder with exclusive, mirror-finished wall surfaces in the stairwells.
