For painter Norbert Jansen and his team, the night often turns into day. There is a reason for that. In contrast to many colleagues, his company looks outside the box - and also lays floors. It thus offers all customers a more comprehensive service. Frank Spieß An example of this was shown on the construction site of the Stadtsparkasse in Wickrath, near Mönchengladbach. When the team from the painting company Jansen from Rheindahlen entered the cleared branch on a Friday around 4:30 p.m., the renovation project was only to be imagined. By 10 p.m., however, the old coverings had already been completely removed, the floor mechanically cleaned and partly primed. The spatula started half an hour later. Modern flooring materials radically put the effective and drying times of earlier technologies aside. The universal primer Thomsit R 766 Multi-Vorstrich, which the craftsmen used, is sufficient for 30 minutes to dry even on dense, non-absorbent substrates. The new quick filler Thomsit XXL Xpress is then ready for covering after only another 90 minutes. With four to six men, his team is usually done with this work around six in the morning - and the furniture truck can come. “You have to have such a flexible attitude today,” he explains. For Norbert Jansen, this view may already be something of a corporate credo - one with which he stands out clearly from the surrounding competition. The 34-year-old is now the fourth generation to run the family business. As long as he can remember, the flooring area has been an important pillar of the company. Thanks to its special know-how, however, it is mainly used in the floor area. The master painter has hired another painter trainee specifically for the flooring orders in his company. "I promised him that after his apprenticeship in the field of soil, he would take over if he made the right effort and still completed the painter training. This prospect was a good one and today I am very happy with the decision I made at the time.“No rocket science In the course of time, people in Rheindalen really got into the flooring area. Therefore, of course, in addition to the Metylan product range, Norbert Jansen knows not only the Thomsit compact system but also the names of the special products. "Many painters are afraid of the floor," he describes. “With good advice and with the right products, however, this is really not rocket science. But I need to know what I'm doing. This also means, for example, that a primer and a filler belong under every carpet, as well as a proper waste under every wallpaper.”The master painter likes to explain such relationships to his clients, because he sees the interior fittings as a classic business of trust. "If the client registers that it is running, I am often askedwhether we can’t do more,”he adds. Then there would often be the entrance hall and a few new strips. Otherwise, we could not even offer these services as a traditional company that lives from word-of-mouth propaganda, recommendations and its reputation. The risk of losing everything would be far too great,”he summarizes. The fact that he is far from this fate is shown only by the circle of his regular customers for painting and flooring work. The relationship with Caritas began with the renovation of an old people's home. As is so often the case, two companies should share the work on the wall and floor. The tasks were difficult to coordinate in terms of time alone - until Jansen sought a direct conversation with the architect who oversaw the project."We can do that too," he had underlined at the time. “In the evening we can prime, keep the area clean the next day and fill it and lay the covering on the following day.
