QUESTION OF THE MONTH. Looking Back

QUESTION OF THE MONTH. Looking Back

Do you remember? In July 2011 the column "Question of the month" started here in the Malerblatt and problematic "adhesion to the subsurface with water-borne paints".

Since then, it has been an honor and a pleasure for me to serve this monthly section in seven individual articles in regular succession over seven years. Hopefully always interesting and useful for painting practice. Because that was the intention: to briefly, succinctly and concisely examine and discuss essential practical questions in order to make daily work safer. We wanted to offer you this benefit!

Today I am saying goodbye to you and will hand over the column to my successor as Head of Application Technology at ZERO-LACK from the September issue. Roberto Bongiovanni is a young professional who has worked successfully with me for several years as my deputy. He will enrich this column with fresh ideas and continue it as a value-added section for the painter. What is still burning on my soul? There is an unanswered question, not a question of the month, but a central question in the industry: How will it be possible to recruit qualified young talent for the painting trade who will ensure the survival of the high quality and service standards of our profession? I appeal to all painting companies who want to maintain and continue this high level,to actively invest again in the training of young people and to strengthen the attractiveness of the painting profession through their own example. The current economic situation in the construction industry should support this incentive.

I would like to thank all readers for their attention and to the editorial staff of this specialist magazine for the partnership-based collaboration that has made this small forum possible over the years and will continue to make it possible.

I wish you all a good time!
