The Association for Insulation Systems, Plaster and Mortar (VDPM) has published a new leaflet "Dowels in thermal insulation composite systems - information on planning and execution"
The 24-page brochure was created by the project group Dowel (head: Dr. Falk Rosenkranz) in the working group facade insulation systems of the VDPM (head: Achim Gebhart) and is supported by the Federal Association for Color Design Building Protection, the Federal Association for Extension and Facade and the Quality Association for Thermal Insulation of Facades. The leaflet is aimed primarily at planners, architects and specialist entrepreneurs; it provides basic information about the functions of dowels in ETICS, explains the most important planning steps and execution details.
The focus of the planning part is the topic of stability with keywords such as wind suction stress, resistance of the ETICS as well as calculation and determination of the number of dowels per insulation board. The topics of usability and heat transfer are explained in the Planning section. It shows how dowel plate markings in the facade can be avoided.
The section on execution deals with the right steps for a professional anchoring of ETICS. The leaflet explains how the required anchor length and minimum borehole depth are determined. Detailed colored sectional drawings illustrate the respective procedure using facade examples. Notes on the quality characteristics of ETICS anchors, a glossary and a bibliography complete the information sheet. In the appendix, the authors also provide a complete practical example for determining the amount of anchors on a fictitious ETICS facade.
The leaflet "Dowels in ETICS - Notes on planning and execution" is now available for free download at www.vdpm.info and can be ordered as a print version from [email protected]
